Binsted Community – Happy and Glorious!

Residents from all parts of Binsted parish came together in style to celebrate the very special Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Binsted and Rowledge schools celebrated with parties before the holiday. The Jubilee Weekend itself got underway with a bang, under clear skies, with the lighting of a Beacon and Fireworks at Binsted Rec on the Thursday evening. Hosts of street parties and thanksgiving services held during the four-day weekend were also much enjoyed. As a lasting legacy, over 70 trees have been planted across the parish, in commemoration of the Queen’s extraordinary life of service to our country.

Events like the Jubilee show just what amazing things can be done when people come together as a community. Our Beacon and Fireworks event would not have taken place unless the small number of volunteers in the Fete Committee had been willing to organise it. As a parish council, we’re extremely appreciative of the Fete Committee’s efforts. We’d also very much encourage anyone who can give some time to consider getting more involved with volunteer activities in the community – plenty of things need your help!

And… come and meet us at Binsted Fete on 2 July! The Parish Council will have a stand at the Fete, so do drop by and say hello.
